Poison in the water!

Updated: Jun 23, 2022

Pay attention to this one Friends!

The EPA just surprised us this morning with some scary news. They announced that chemicals found in our drinking water are more harmful than they originally suspected.

This caught my attention big time. If the EPA says it's harmful it must be pretty bad. Their standards are much lower than the European Union in regards to what chemicals and substances they allow in consumer products.

Here's an example from everydayhealth.com:

Additives That Are Banned in Europe That Are Allowed in the U.S.

  • Titanium Dioxide.

  • Potassium Bromate.

  • Azodicarbonamide.

  • Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) and Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT)

  • Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH)

  • Color Dyes (Yellow No. 5, No. 6, Red No. ...

  • Brominated Vegetable Oil (BVO)

Most people ingest at least one of these products in our country on a weekly, if not daily basis.

Mind blowing.

If the FDA, who's not nearly as strict on what chemicals they allow in our products is sounding the alarm, we all need to pay attention.

Here's why the EPA is raising the red flag. The coatings on non-stick pans and stain-resistant fabrics that have made our lives easier, unbeknownst to us, stick around much longer in our environment than we would like. Unlike normal chemicals, they don’t undergo a degradation process. This means they stay in their original toxic form in the environment and ultimately leach into the water supply, contaminate soil near industrial plants where they are produced etc.

Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) are the main culprits right now and the EPA has moved to phase them out but the damage done still remains. They’re now saying these compounds are linked to disease, including thyroid imbalances, low birth rates and cancer. Yikes!

No wonder our cancer rates are so high. Much higher than in other countries.

Thankfully, they’re moving fairly quickly to try to remediate it. A bill is on the table that would provide funding to address the issue and I’m assuming a massive cleanup if it’s even possible. We’ll see how far the bill gets in our current political climate where there’s zero leadership and mostly self-aggrandizement and sabotage, but at least it’s a start. In the meantime, protect yourself. Hopefully you’re drinking filtered water already. If so, check the label on your filters to make sure they filter out PFOS and PFAS (or see the big word listed above).

Below is a link to one that I use. The company states its technology filters out harmful PFOS and PFAS. It also retains the natural minerals our bodies need to buffer acid and support healthy metabolism.

There are others out there. Just make sure they filter out the harmful stuff and leave the beneficial minerals. Dead water can create its own problems…possibly leading to cancer as well, from over-acidity.
