About
Tonya
I spent the first half of my career as a corporate grinder. 20 years working at a couple fortune 500 companies in various capacities…HR, Sales & Marketing and Customer Acquisition & Retention. After completely burning out I left the corporate world for the work I was called to do. I worked as a life and career coach for one of the largest non-profits in my area. I also served as a transition coach for General Motors and the United States Military helping displaced workers and military wives make career transitions.
I’ve been married for over 20 years to an amazing spirit and partner who challenges me to grow on a daily basis. It was when I was stricken with a sudden, inexplicable illness that I learned the blessing of being in true partnership.
As a certified Life and Career Coach, writing non-fiction seemed like the next logical step. I have so much to say, so many topics to delve into that will give people tangible information that will help them on their journey. We have everything we need of course, and we are equipped with our own internal navigation system, but more information never hurts. Lord knows I've benefitted from people sharing with me. So, stay tuned for a series of books I have planned on how to navigate this thing called life.
Through the stories of others, we learn about ourselves and find our own power.
I started writing fiction to offer light, love and hope to those who've lost their way. My fiction stories revolve around all the things that make us human; life, love, triumph, loss. Each of those stories is an example of growth and what's possible for us as human beings. We have the power to transcend, no matter what we face, and my stories reflect that. They are intended to inspire you to begin your own journey of finding peace and fulfillment in life. My debut novel was titled A Taste of Love and was a National Indie Excellence Awards Finalist. My second book is titled Indiscretion and my third book is titled Dirty. Despite the names, they’re relatively clean. When I chose everyday household terms, I had no idea they’d imply a different meaning. Lesson learned. I've also written a short story that received honorable distinction in the 87th annual Writers Digest Short Story Contest. A story about a woman navigating the tumult of midlife, as am I, and she runs into something unexpected.
I'm completely enamored with the beauty and complexity of the human experience. And as such, everything I do, whether writing fiction, non-fiction or coaching revolves around that. It is my belief that many of us have only scratched the surface of what we're truly capable of and I'm on a mission to assist as many human beings as I can with that process.
But here's what's most important about me. I'm a truth seeker. Daily I ask the question, "What is all of this about?" And daily I seek answers. The gathering of knowledge and sharing it is what makes my journey worthwhile.
Life can be tricky. But through each challenge we face, if we learn the lessons available to us in every moment, we become more fully who we were intended to be. Strong, powerful co-creators of our own lives. And I’m on a mission to help you do just that. Poke around on this site and get connected. I have much more in store for you.
