New Years Resolution

New Year's Resolutions I'm not a fan. I've made countless ones in the past, and I don't think I have ever successfully held to one of them. I resolved to lose weight, to get more organized, to be better at my job. But it was as if as soon as the words left my mouth, I was doomed for failure. It left me feeling powerless. But there was always this voice inside of me that told me I was capable of being and accomplishing more. I knew that a higher and more true version of myself existed. I knew that the person I saw in the mirror was an impostor.

That voice, whispering on the inside, told me that the very essence of God was inside of me and that he had created something extraordinary and that I could say, and be and do more than I ever thought possible. It told me that I could be joyful and loving, that I could forgive, that I could serve and bless others, and that my gifts and talents had a purpose in the world. It was only when I surrendered to that voice, that the process of transformation could begin. It was only in the realization that inside of me, lie a person whose life was much bigger than the one I saw, that I could successfully commit to change. So I set my tiny little feet on the path to transformation. I put one foot in front of the other and began what is now the journey of my life. Instead of resolving to make change every January, I live my life in a constant state of evolution. Each day becoming better and allowing my life to fully and completely unfold on its own and, miraculously, the things that do not serve this process, one by one, seem to fall away.

This year, instead of making a New Year's resolution, commit to becoming fully and truly who you are capable of being. Understand your value and worth in the world. Understand that you are extraordinary and that your life is far bigger than what you imagine. Understand that you are capable of love, and that you can have joy. That you are creative and gifted in ways you may not even be aware of. Set your feet on the path of becoming who you really are. You'd be surprised to know, you've had it in you all along.
