An expanded view of scripture...

As a Christian I sometimes encounter people who are in disagreement with my world view on the spiritual nature of life. I believe spirituality transcends ritualistic things like baptism being a requirement for spirituality, or attending your local church. Those things are awesome and it’s beneficial to do them, but their meaning and effects go far beyond what many churches are teaching us. Many of the practices that are heavily emphasized in church have deeper transcendent meaning and positive effects for us. Other religions understand this better than we do in Western society. 

 

For example, water cleanses the aura; it cleanses the body in general. Water symbolizes purification, cleanliness, transformation. It has a direct impact on us energetically. Ever notice how great you feel after a shower? There’s also some science coming out about water’s effects on our cells. It’s far beyond anything we ever understood. So my belief is that, when the bible was written, there was some ancient wisdom around some of these practices like water purification; what it symbolized and how it could affect both body and spirit etc. But, somehow the wisdom got lost and we found ourselves in the basement of old churches dunking ourselves in chlorine-laced water inside of a blow-up kiddie pool and calling that a requirement for spirituality. As oral traditions passed down these practices we got further and further away from our understanding of the original purpose and benefit, and baptism became simply part of church life. Consequently, many modern-day churches make the rules the religion instead of our state of being the reason we practice any sort of faith. Who we are becoming is the whole point of it, not the rituals. 

 

So here I am today, heretic and all, taking a look at some scriptures and trying to find the deeper meaning that is there. Jesus came in the flesh and walked amongst us, and gave us the antidote to life itself, and they missed it. Killed him for it.  

 

It’s my belief we are still missing much of it today. 

 

For me, what it means to be spiritual is less about stopping sin, although that’s an important part of it, and more about transcendence—digging down deep and revealing the god like aspect of ourselves. Living as the embodiment of spirit in these human bodies. So sin, for me, simply means letting go of things that get in the way of that. It’s more of an empowered state as opposed to a state where we constantly whip ourselves and others because we aren’t keeping the laws. To be transcendent is to elevate yourself above anything that hinders the fullest expression of who you are. When you see it from that point and understand all the benefits that come along with that...peace, joy, guidance, prosperity, abundance. Keeping ‘the laws’ becomes something you want to do because there is value in living as your ‘true’ self. 

 

The Bible is a complicated book. For me it’s an allegorical blueprint for living. It is a book of wisdom. It is also a cosmic tale of the great story of humanity and how it gets lost, and a reminder that even when we lose our way, we will ultimately be redeemed and restored to truth.  

 

The good news is, as individuals, we can be restored now. We can be reconciled to the greater truth of who and what we are...both god and man. With faith, diligence, and will, we can transcend the woes of daily life. You don’t have to wait to be rewarded in heaven. You can experience the joy of living, NOW! 

 

Here are some random scriptures that provide glimpses into our divine nature and how to get to that state of being. If you understand that everything in the cosmos is energy and has resonance, including us, the concepts of vibration and alignment will make more sense. 

 

This is not an exhaustive list but we’ll start here for now.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. 

 

For me this scripture speaks to our mindset which is the collection of our thoughts, beliefs and knowledge. By renewing our mind, we understand that we are more than just flesh, blood and bone. We are broader, spiritual beings. With this understanding we are able transcend the things of this world...materialism, hatred, anger, lust, judgement...and begin moving in spirit. Moving in spirit simply means that as our thoughts, words and deeds line up with divinity, we maintain our connection. When we maintain our connection, which is a state of resonance or vibration, we have unimaginable power. We can know things we wouldn’t ordinarily know. We have assistance we wouldn’t normally have. We begin to readily discern the divine path and perfect unfolding of our lives.

 

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about these things. 

 

This scripture tells us to be mindful of our thoughts. This is a prescription that tells us how to “remain in the vine.” Remaining in the vine simply means we align ourselves with divinity by maintaining right thoughts or operating in a state of cleanliness or purity of heart. As we maintain right thoughts, we raise our vibration. As we raise our vibration we connect with divinity and receive power to transcend the woes of earthy life. This is when magic happens. 

 

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 

 

This reminds us that at the core of who we are is perfection; divinity itself. All the limiting characteristics we have, we’ve picked up along the road of life. Quite simply, none of it belongs there. We have been created to be strong, healthy and abundant beings. At our core, we are perfect and powerful. We can begin to claim our essence at any time through spiritual practice and belief. 

 

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

 

This is the fun part! When you move as the totality of who you are, meaning we are both in physical form as man but also remaining connected to divinity, we have access to information we wouldn’t normally have. People to see. Where to go? What is the meaning of life? All questions will be answered and we will be guided. 

 

 

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it flow the issues of life. 

 

Our thoughts, words and deeds are powerful. So much so, they make us who we are. When we are conscious of and intentional about the state of our heart (or mind) from moment to moment, we have greater control over our life circumstances. When we are in faith, love, hope, kindness, when we edify others, we are in resonance with Christ/God/Divinity and have power to create good things in our life. Additionally, the reference to the heart speaks to emotion. Not only do our thoughts determine our vibratory state but they are also creative and can attract things to us both good and bad. When we couple any thought with emotion, we create a powerful force that will manifest things in our life. We definitely want to make sure we are guarding our heart or controlling our emotions. If your emotions aren’t typically good and tend toward fear, anger etc, you are setting yourself up for bad things. Thought plus emotion=powerful attraction. I don’t make the rules. 🙂 

 

 

Ephesians 4:31-32 

31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.  


Raise your vibration. Love, peace, joy, edification, faith and hope are better choices. They connect you with the divine aspect of yourself. Here’s where life shifts for the better. 

 

32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.   

 

The energy of love is the highest vibration. If we could move through the world fully embodying this energy, which is what Christ was, we would see our lives completely transform. Everything about our lives would become easy. 

 

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 

 

We are divinity yet at the same time fully man. As such, we are subject to making wrong choices or committing ‘sin’ if you will. As we recognize, accept and commit to being better, we transcend this aspect of our human-ness. The propensity to do wrong will always be there. It is an aspect of our dual nature, but as we raise our vibration and sustain it, it gets easier to do the right thing. We are energy. Our thoughts and actions are energy. Here’s where positive momentum is our friend. Like attracts like. Higher mindedness attracts more of the same. 

 

 

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”  

 

Faith is crucial to the process of creation and manifestation. It is futile to ask if you can’t have enough faith that you will receive. 

 

What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”  

 

Our words are powerful. Not only do they create our lives, they raise or lower our vibratory state. Good words raise our vibration. Bad ones lower it and kick us out of resonance with divinity. 

 

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 

 

Hold steadfast to truth. Christ is the indwelling spirit within us. As such, we have power. Demolish false beliefs about who and what you are...broken, powerless, victim. You are a direct reflection and creation of divinity. Since our thoughts are creative it behooves us to line them up with Divine Spirit or the Christ within, who by the way, sees you as perfectly and wonderfully made. In doing so we raise our vibration and maintain our connection to divinity.  

In understanding this concept, we move in the totality of who we are. When we are connected to spirit, we move in power.  

 

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 

 

Make every effort to align with spirit. Trust the outcome no matter how things appear. When you are operating as one with divinity, know that the outcome will be for your highest good. If you can maintain a high vibratory state, you will be guided. Woohoo! 🙌
